Tale of the tape:
Team: Oz Roller Girls
League: Oz Roller Girls
Home: Oswego, N.Y.
Record: 7-4
Most recent action: 187-143 win over Shoreline Roller Derby’s Salty Broads
Team: Dolly Rogers
League: Capital City Derby Dolls
Home: Ottawa, Ont.
Record: 4-1
Most recent action: 314-44 win over Peterboro Roller Derby
Common opponents: 2, Ithaca Bluestockings and Kingston Derby Girls’ Skateful Dead. Both teams went 1-1 against them. Oz defeated the Skateful Dead 200-124 but fell 225-141 to the Bluestockings. The Dolly Rogers topped the Rogue Warriors 232-82 but dropped a 146-88 bout to the Bluestockings.
Hello Dolly: The travel team for the Capital City Derby Dolls, the Dolly Rogers finished last season as the 12th-ranked Travel/B Team in their first year of action. Like their fellow second-year Oz counterparts, they welcomed increased competition this season, and the Dolly Rogers currently rank 25th in their Home and Native Land. Plus they have a really great blog.
Road warriors: Showing a willingness to tackle road tests, Oz is 3-4 on the road (4-0 at home). They defeated the Albany All-Stars A Team, the Central New York Roller Derby Wonder Brawlers and Kingston Derby Girls’ Rogue Warriors. Losses have come to the traditionally strong Ithaca Bluestockings and Roc City B-Sides, the rising North Country Lumber Jills and undefeated Crown City Royal Pains.
Prediction: Hard to predict anything but an exciting match. Oz very much looks forward to returning to Canada! And the bout is sponsored by microbrewer Beau’s Beer, which is awesome.
